Namma is Tamil for “ours.” Not mine, not yours, but the word a community uses when something belongs to everyone.
Chakkar is the spin of the drum, the cycle of the wash, the rounds of daily life. In Hindi, a chakkar is a loop, a turn, a small orbit. Life runs in chakkars. So does laundry. So do we.
